Bodybuilder Jodi Vance Passes Away at 20 Due to Severe Dehydration

Jodi Vance, a rising bodybuilder, has tragically passed away at the age of 20 after suffering a fatal heart attack, her family confirmed.

In a statement shared on Vance’s Instagram, her family wrote, “For those who haven’t heard yet, Jodi passed away yesterday afternoon. Her heart stopped due to complications from severe dehydration.”

Despite medical efforts, doctors were unable to revive her. Her family described her as a “beautiful person inside and out” who will be “deeply missed every day.” They also noted that her passing was “sudden and unexpected” and asked for privacy to grieve. “If there’s one lesson to take from this, it’s to prioritize your health,” they urged.

Jodi’s trainer, Justin Mihaly, provided further insight in a video message, explaining that her mother, Jenny, had given him permission to share details. Mihaly stated that Vance had made a critical mistake, possibly involving dangerous substances, which contributed to her dehydration.

“You’re welcome to direct your blame at me if you think that’s the best way to honor Jodi,” Mihaly said, vowing to raise awareness about the risks involved in extreme fitness practices.

According to Mihaly, Vance had used two highly dangerous substances to enhance her physique—without his knowledge or approval. He recalled that many people who cared about her had urged her to slow down, but her determination and work ethic were unmatched.

“Her health had become a serious concern,” Mihaly noted. “We tried to get her to ease up, but she was relentless.” Hospital tests later confirmed that she had taken a substance he had previously warned her about.

Remembering Vance, Mihaly described her as deeply loved and admired, highlighting her warmth and intelligence. “She was an incredible person, and her loss is devastating.”
